Newsletter July 2010

Dear friends,

This is our first English newsletter and we are very proud to present it. Most of you know of our calling to be missionaries. Before becoming missionaries we seek to be trained theologically in England. In this letter you can read about our progress. Thanks for your support in whatever way!

Report Englandtrip

In the beginning of May we have visited England with our family for a period of 2 weeks. During our stay we have visited the River School in Worcester. We hope to send our children to this school. The visit to the school was very positive. We are yet to be informed about the admission of our children, but we are confident. Unfortunately we were not able to view rental houses yet as our house has not definitively been sold yet. We did get some general information about renting a house in England as non residents. We took the opportunity to buy a method for teaching English to Reception Year children. Vanya (aged 5) is now taught English at home every now and then. She likes it!

House still for sale

In February we sold our house under the condition that the buyers will sell their house first, which hasn't happened sofar. Alas we also have had only a few viewings this spring. Recently we spoke with our selling agent who told as that we need to be patient and confident (he's a christian too). Times are bad for selling houses, especially in the Netherlands where a new government is still being formed since the elections of June 9th. The situation on the house market is one of the issues at stake. Measures (such as reducing tax deduction on mortgage interest) might be taken that will make buying houses a lot less attractive. A lot of people seem to be waiting on the formation of a new government before taking big steps such as buying a house.

Mission organisation

Over the last few months we have been taking in a lot of information from and about many mission organisations. We will need some time to think and pray. There is however one organisation we have contact with to receive more information. The organisation concerned is the African Inland Mission (AIM). AIM concentrates on bringing the gospel (further) amongst Africans in many ways amongst which are evangelisation and the founding of churches. The nearest office of AIM is in England, but there are also a few contacts in the Netherlands.

We thank you for your prayers!

If applicable: have a nice holiday!

With greetings,

Jurgen, Katja, Vanya, Issa & Abbey Hofmann
